In the heart of Paris, there lived a family like no other, les Parisiens. These AI-generated photorealistic artworks employ the enigmatic aesthetics of Surrealism to present a captivating portrayal of a family's multifaceted existence.
A concoction of paradoxes, as the canvas unfolds as a collage of disparate scenes, showcasing the diverse spectrum of emotions, experiences, and dynamics within the family unit. The artwork navigates the raw and unfiltered aspects of familial life. The garden picnic scenes, bathed in Surrealism's soft, dreamlike hues, depict idyllic moments of togetherness.

Yet, lurking beneath the serene surface, some artworks delve into the shadowy realm of the human psyche. With a disturbingly violent and chaotic style, the hidden aspects of family affairs unravel. These darker vignettes pierce the viewer's consciousness with stark and unsettling imagery, depicting the intricate web of conflicts, secrets, and suppressed emotions that often characterize family life.
And the modern existence of families bathed in scaremongering in the information age. The presentation of Surrealism, artfully rendered by AI, evokes a sense of cognitive dissonance, hijacking the reality of the outside world for family by warping the dimensionality of the backgrounds. It prompts viewers to confront the dual nature of family existence, where moments of harmony and violence coexist.
It beckons us to contemplate the complex tapestry of relationships, unveiling the simultaneous beauty and turmoil that define our closest bonds and leaves us with the question: Is this a depiction of a single family, or is it a mirror reflecting the universal experiences of us all?

‘Familial Chronicles: A Surreal Exploration of Life's Dualities’

Born in Turkey in 1982, Alkan Avcıoğlu is a polymath and an outsider artist who believes in the transformative power of prolific creation. He holds a master's degree in Film Studies and a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences. For years, he lectured in Narratology courses and studied art theories. He is a FIPRESCI member film critic and a DJ with a diverse range of creative endeavours spanning from writing to composing electronic music. He began digital painting as early as 1999 and has since created thousands of works. A relentless, multifaceted experimenter, Alkan has focused on AI art for the last two years. He has collaborated with Fellowship and released his acclaimed 300-piece collection “Overpopulated Symphonies” under Post Photographic Perspectives. Recently, Alkan's work has been selected for numerous exhibitions including Vogue’s Photo Festival 2023, Seattle NFT Museum’s “Convergence: AI and Art” and Superchief Gallery’s “Artist x Ai // 000004 - A Show of Hands”. “My artistic process with AI is based on countless iterations and a focus on giving space for the image to exist on its own. I strive to decontextualize iconography by merging different styles in raw fashion. My goal is to create images that are raw and unusual, blending elements of post-photography and painting in a lo-fi aesthetic manner. I experiment with prompts on MidJourney to receive outputs that are lingering on the thin line between the kitsch and the serious, constructing an allegory for the post-truth society feeling increasingly estranged from their surroundings.”
