The power he puts out in the final K.....well, you'll have to see it to believe it! "It wasn't planned," Thomas said. "I knew Bahrain didn't have any guys left. I knew it was all lined out and the last bit was a bit twisty so I just thought 'sod it, go for it'. I went with a kilometre to go, the boys said on the radio that I had a gap, and I just went all in. "To be honest, I didn't think I had that on the line. I just sat up two metres from the line to start to give it the big one, but man, Colbrelli came past so fast he nearly took my helmet off. But it's really nice to get that win for sure." And what a win it was! We took the power data and made a scatter plot out of this one, called the Quadrant Analysis, which tells you how the athlete created power. Those dots are throughout the piece of art that is an excellent example of blending art, imagery and power data all into one. Contains bio-metric data file. Artist: Facundo Kostelak.
Geraint Thomas, otherwise known as "G", is a Welsh professional racing cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Ineos Grenadiers, Wales and Great Britain. He is one of the few riders in the modern era to achieve significant elite success as both a track and road rider, with notable victories in the velodrome, in one-day racing and in stage racing. On the track, he has won three World Championships (2007, 2008, and 2012), and two Olympic gold medals (2008 and 2012), while on the road he won the 2018 Tour de France, and the 2022 Tour de Suisse, becoming the first Welshman to win either.
