Verdant, a glass and thread sculpture, is digitally captured in four positions as it would appear in the weightless environment on the ISS. The vitality of green has biological and aesthetic connections to human existence. The shape of the work relates to the centre of the chlorophyll molecule with one magnesium atom surround by four nitrogen atoms. The lustrous forms evoke the pure, unfiltered light of outer space.

Artist Lisa Pettibone’s unique collection relates to the extraordinary artwork currently orbiting the earth on the International Space Station in 2022 as part of the Moon Gallery’s first gallery in space.

Artist Lisa Pettibone’s unique collection relates to the extraordinary microgravity sculpture Verdant, orbiting the earth on the International Space Station in 2022 as part of the Moon Gallery’s first gallery in space. The real life artwork (one of two artist copies) is mounted in an attractive 15cm square clear acrylic box and sold together with the digital NFT. Four additional NFT images of the artwork complete the whole collection. These artefacts comprise a historical record of a project that aims to promote art in space – vital as humanity is poised to push deeper into the cosmos. Pettibone’s artworks often challenge the concept of up and down, top and bottom. http://www.pettibone.co.uk/
