"The Other Side" Benares, India 1999

Late afternoon, looking across from the uninhabited right bank at the ancient city of Benares stretched along the left bank of the mighty river Ganges.

Taken on my first visit to one of the oldest continually inhabited cities on earth. Hindus believe that to die and be cremated there allows the cycle of rebirth to be broken, that salvation is possible. I felt the touch of something unfathomably old. I still dream of it sometimes.

From the "Uchujin's Stitched Panoramas" series - Because the world doesn't always fit into nice convenient aspect ratios

Stitched panorama of 6 frames originally shot on film.

Uchujin's Stitched Panoramas collection image

"A collection of stitched together multi-shot Panoramas, because the world doesn't always fit into nice convenient aspect ratios."
Shot on multiple film and digital formats, in various countries around the world from 1999 onwards.
Deliberately not cropped to rectangles, the uneven edges showing where individual frames have been joined and emphasizing that the scenes continue outside of the constraints of the image.

All of the places in these images have a deep personal significance to me. In these places significant events or periods of my life took place.
These places made me who I am.

An ongoing series, to be added to throughout 2022 (There will be no more than 15 total images), of 1/1* editions.
(*Except #1 which was minted as 1/3 so I could giveaway one each to @seanbonner and @mujuworld as a special thanks for getting me here)
