WOULD YOU STAY IF YOUR HOME BECAME A DESERT?
In the following years, my home town in the Mediterranean region would experience a drastic transformation with the warming of 2 degrees Celsius, according to the studies, with all of southern Spain becoming a desert.
By the middle of this century, experts estimate that climate change is likely to displace between 150 and 300 million people. If this group formed a country, it would be the fourth-largest in the world. Yet neither individual countries nor the global community is completely prepared to support a whole new class of “climate migrants.”
What will be the future for those who can't flee their homes?
These satellite images of the most vulnerable places have at their core the concerns for the climate crisis. The effects and the scale of our interactions with the environment are apparent on public satellites images. The project ambition is to share some understanding of the issues that are fuelling migration and the loss of fertile soil.
From ART3.io and British Journal of Photography, Decade of Change is a global photography exhibition dedicated to the defining issue of our time: the climate crisis.
Curated by leaders in art, science, activism and beyond, the work shines a light on the strength and fragility of the natural world; the indirect impacts on communities and everyday people, and our global efforts to turn things around.
Now, exclusively on OpenSea, ART3 presents a special selection of artworks from the exhibition. Spanning humankind to wildlife and cityscapes to ecosystems, these NFTs represents a snapshot of a pivotal moment in our history — celebrating all that we have to protect, cautioning all that we have to lose, and urging all of us to fight for our planet.
200 trees will be planted for every NFT sold via our reforestation partner Eden. Minted on Polygon.
