With no regards for the environment, acidic sewage contains metals such as cooper, iron, zinc, lead, arsenic were vastly poured in this valley and slowly engulfing the now-abandoned village, in a lake of vivid and unnatural colours.
The lake has become very acidic and contaminated with cyanide which got rid of all the vegetation and forced any animal life elsewhere. The environmental damage is very prevalent when you see the the tower of the village church peaking out through the sludge and the shadow from the church looks the same as the nails Jesus was nailed to the cross.
From ART3.io and British Journal of Photography, Decade of Change is a global photography exhibition dedicated to the defining issue of our time: the climate crisis.
Curated by leaders in art, science, activism and beyond, the work shines a light on the strength and fragility of the natural world; the indirect impacts on communities and everyday people, and our global efforts to turn things around.
Now, exclusively on OpenSea, ART3 presents a special selection of artworks from the exhibition.
