Anais Nin was the ultimate multi-tasker, who managed to fill her days with multiple sex partners, whilst writing her "interior" stories and then printing them on her own press. She was consumed with a deep hunger to be seen, derived from being deserted by her father. During a time when so much was restricted for a woman, Nin didn‘t just break the mold, she reinvented it to further reflect her "divided and chaotic self". She was one of the first influential women known for writing explicitly about erotica. She orchestrated two marriages simultaneously between NYC and LA. These were managed like a business, meticulously documented in her "lie box," the device she designed to keep track of her deceptions. She spent the latter part of her life wishing for a "cafe in space" where she could keep in touch with others as a shared way of communication that would reach across the globe where we could communicate our thoughts.
