This work is based on an original painting which was then animated to bring it to life. Part of my arts practise is also to make large scale sculptural works based on structures from my paintings, and the wind turbine in this work is a piece I would like to create in the future.
This artwork is utopian in theme, imagining a perfect world which relies on clean energy, in which the aesthetically pleasing and the practical are married into one. One where sculptures such as the wind turbine can generate power while also having mediative, calming qualities. Doubling up as art accessible for everyone. The other design elements are the solar powered discs to be used instead of cars for transport and the free fall stairs which can take you anywhere you wish to go.
The featured wind turbine has been constructed here using a re occurring metaphor of mine, the Three Point Portals, which often come in a set of six in a painting. They represent self reflection and introspection on the particular topic of that work. So, in this piece they are asking that we reflect on our future world.
The idea is for this work to start conversations about what is possible and how we can collectively dream up new and better ways to live in the future. Ways to live that better harness and align with the energy that already exists on this planet.
