When out in the bush, pack beasts are a camper's best friend/survival companion! Generally owned by more seasoned hikers, who must first locate one in the wild, and then earn the beast's trust by burning their old worn out backpack as a sign of commitment and friendship. These special creatures are hollow on the inside, with a velvety soft interior that will keep all your gear bone dry. If you want something simply ask for it, and it will spit the item out for you; or feel free to just plunge your arm right in the mouth opening and grab whatever you need! Pack beasts average approx. 35-90L of carrying capacity, which varies across both interior and exo-framed species. Most pack beasts gather nutrients through soft cushiony pads along their bellies which make for a great back support, so say their hiker companions. Domestic beasts prefer to feed off a camper's sweat and body heat generated during a hike, whereas wild pack beasts will hug onto a variety of things in nature like trees and mud to extract the life sustaining vitamins and minerals they need. They are typically found in forest canopies or sunbathing near rivers and mostly travel in small family groups. Pack beasts carry their young (widely referred to as fanny packs or "fannies") in rear external pockets until their legs develop enough to climb on their own. A bond formed between a camper and a pack beast is one for life. Campfire tales of old tell of these beast's heroic deeds; saving campers from predators, fatal accidents, starvation, etc. It is said their little rectangular hearts even contain survival materials like cordage and a small blade.
