It's popular to perceive time as being linear, when in fact the effects of elapsed time are often cyclical in nature. Seasons come and go in a predictable manner, each individually distinguishable in the way they shape the landscapes around us. Winter and summer move slowly within our perception of time and we inadequately appreciate these stark alterations. Imagine having the power to jump between these seasons, exploring their effects on a given landscape. Would this change your experience of time? No need to wonder anymore… The Solstice Series is the first of its kind, giving viewers a highly unique opportunity to experience the power of seasons like never before.

During winter of last year, I traveled across Colorado and revisited a few of my favorite summer scenes. I photographed them each again, making sure to place myself in the exact same location as before; there is no photoshop wizardry here. Interact with the piece and feel the power of the seasons.

The dynamic effects in this piece incorporate realtime fluid simulation, symbolizing the fluid nature of time. Because of this, you can theoretically create an infinite amount of unique 1/1 pieces from this artwork. Of course, it wouldn’t be a true Transient Gallery piece if we didn’t take the viewer’s nearest solstice into account. Take notice of which season the piece defaults to.

Homebound, the first piece in the Solstice Series, depicts one of the most beautiful scenes I have discovered near my home in Colorado. I like to imagine that this winding road leads to the perfect cabin sitting at the base of our majestic Rocky Mountains. Come summer or winter, your mountain abode awaits you. Welcome Home.

Think the pieces in this gallery are still images? Think again! Every piece is continually evolving based on the time of day, all without needing to refresh metadata. You'll see each photograph slowly fade through daytime, sunset, nighttime, and sunrise, as they are synchronized with actual sunrise and sunset times from your exact geographical location. This also means the length of day and night change seasonly! At any given moment, what you see will be different than what someone else sees from across the planet. This revolutionary approach to NFT photography is only made possible through custom written, programmable smart contracts. Welcome to the groundbreaking Transient Gallery, where landscape photography has become tethered to the real world.
