Kolkata woke up to a water-logging it is not accustomed to. People in low-lying areas had water entering their homes - people had to wade through waterlogged roads as a part of their daily chores.

While major parts of North Calcutta were under knee-deep water for almost 3 days at a stretch - triggering massive traffic snarls on the artery that connects the airport with the rest of the city, I decided to venture out with my camera trying to document these forgettable moments in the history of the cultural capital.

My heart literally wept at the thought of the pavement dwellers whom I saw last night near the railway station.

Yet this sight of the under-privileged kids playing in the middle of waterlogged streets, enjoying every moment to the fullest – made my day. It does showcase the indomitable spirit of mankind to emerge victorious in the middle of dire atrocities - their dreams remain just about "afloat" ! Hats off!
