Like most parts of Turkey, Istanbul also has a very versatile culture. Liberals, conservatives, religious ones, marginals... they all live in the same city and learn from each other. Also, some parts of Istanbul which are like public transportation hubs, those are the crossroads of cultures.
Indeed, Istanbul is one of the most beautiful places in the world with its history. If you are a tourist and visiting for a week, seeing the points of interest, you may not witness the conflict of different cultures and beliefs. Some parts of this city may not handle kissing in public and mild intimacy well. But in the end, love is for everyone. It is independent from your social status, religion ,belief, race...
Sometimes public moral dictates you, suppresses you to hide your emotions.
Love takes courage.
I do appreciate those who are able to act against public repression and able to show emotions.
