Tombstone Territorial Park, Yukon

October 5, 2019

Winter comes early in the far north, and we had temperatures plummet to a chilly -20c on this incredible week long trip. The Yukon's winters are cold, long and unforgiving... but extremely rewarding for anyone prepared to spend some time outdoors. The snow in the foreground is sculpted by high winds, a phenomenon known as sastrugi. In the background, just under the mountain, Talus Lake is barely visible. We watched it freeze solid in a matter of days. To gather our cooking and drinking water, we had to use a pickaxe to break it open every day. At night the lake would make noises straight out of Star Wars - I recommend googling "frozen lake sounds" to hear just what I mean!

Despite this image not being taken during the calendar winter, I felt it best embodied those classic winter trait: cold and snowy.

Seasons in Canada collection image

Canada has a very diverse range of seasonal weather, perhaps more so than any other country on the planet. Its coldest temperature ever recorded was -63c/-81f in the Yukon, and the hottest a scorching 49.6c/121f in British Columbia. To put that into perspective, that’s a difference of 112.6c/202f!

With four pieces, this collection is my tribute to the beauty of Canada’s seasons. I also wanted to use it as an opportunity to make some of my work accessible to more collectors. Each piece is limited to a supply of 15, with a cost of 0.05Ξ. Unlike my 1/1 pieces, these limited supply pieces are limited to a resolution of 4000 pixels on the long side.

To learn more about each image and where it was taken, click on a piece and view its description.

When a season sells out, there will be a special NFT surprise for a random holder...
