The notion of time is at the heart of my photography. The frenetic rhythm of our lives pushes some people to their limits. Time, which has become a mercantile issue, has pushed us to do more and more, faster and faster!

It almost stopped during the period of Covid-19 for many confined people: a salutary pause mode to regain possession of the course of our existence? Many were able to question themselves on their relationship with time and finally on the meaning of their own life!

PRESENTATION OF THE ARTIST

Urielle Kouk, a young photographer from Congo (Brazzaville), graduated in graphic design in 2017 and continues her training at the School of Fine Arts in Dakar. Member of the African Federation on Photographic Art (FAAP), she began her career in photography in 2018.

Through her works, she retraces an artistic narrative of her life and that of women. She denounces certain meannesses, wishes to deconstruct certain discourses in order to act in favor of equal rights.

In 2019, she participated in the group exhibition “The Women’s Parliament” at the Henriette Bathily Women’s Museum in Dakar and then at the Siki Gallery in Saint-Louis. She has also already exhibited at the Grand Théâtre National de Dakar. In 2020, alongside 13 other artists, Urielle Kouk exposes her vision of the world of today and tomorrow after an artistic residency entitled "Bët set na" (Open your eyes!).
