Back in the day, I did hundreds of drawings to discover what my art mentor William Pope.L called my "tendencies." The idea was to draw, draw, and draw until I could "speak." Art, I learned, is a form of speech — to say what one wants to say.

I experimented with diverse media, usually sticking with mechanical pencil on 14 x 17 in. paper. There are one or two with colored markers, and this is one.
