Every time we recall a memory, our mind rewrites the memory and creates a new one in its place, slightly different. With enough time, those memories bear little resemblance than to before — even our strongest memories become strangers to what occurred — yet still we trust these false memories implicitly.

Painting for me is a mnemonic visual record which helps combat this. I can look at any painting I’ve made and immediately recall the very feeling encapsulating the exact moment, and the overall period, of its creation.
