Bridget DeFranco is a media artist working against the high-stimulation nature of the screen. She aims to allow for a slower mode of consuming digital content. Her work, mostly 3D animation, eliminates trajectory and narrative; there is no beginning, middle, or end. Instead there is space--space for finding your own way, for resisting passivity, for being aware of your own viewership.

Bridget graduated from NYU School of Engineering in 2019 with a BS in Integrated Digital Media and minors in Computer Science and Art History. She is enrolled in the Digital + Media MFA program at RISD.

"Around form and motion" is a series of three GIFs drawn from a longer video work. The work looks at what happens to the allure of nature when it is brought behind the screen and aims to recreate the physical world for a digital habitat. The plant-like forms are born from stock images and reimagine their sources as mutations existing in digital space. The movement of each separate piece is generated by an algorithm, allowing the form to ultimately be determined by its movement.

This work was exhibited in the Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art NFT Show, which took place from February 1 through April 30, 2022. The show features artworks from the 174 artists that were exhibited in mowna's first year. Current international artists working in a wide range of artistic mediums. High quality artists and diverse artwork. Innovative new technologies, experimenting in the art and museum space, and paying artists for their work. While the future of NFTs is unclear, mowna acknowledges the NFT space as a new opportunity for art. The show has been added to mowna's collection, which is available for viewing online at https://www.mowna.org.

The winner of this auction will receive a 1/1 limited edition NFT, minted by the museum. 70% of the sale will pay the artist of the NFT for their work, with the remaining 30% paying for the creation of the museum platform. The winner will also unlock a free one month membership code for the museum.
