With this NFT, I hope to raise awareness around one of the most critical ecological crises we face. Mass insect die-offs. Beginning in 2017, multiple scientists began issuing warnings about mass die-offs that are happening now, particularly among flying insects like the butterflies that crypto caterpillars become. Speaking of which, when you buy this NFT it triggers the creation of a chrysalis NFT, the sale of which will trigger the creation of a butterfly NFT, the sale of which will trigger the creation of a butterfly egg NFT.

Insects, love them or fear them, are incredible creatures in their own right. Insects also have a high value to us. Just going about their business, insects perform actions essential to our survival such as pollinating crops and flowers, recycling soil, providing new medicines, and supporting whole food-webs. If we are smart we will stop using certain pesticides and cede some of our territory for shrubs and trees around agricultural farmland to insure insects have a modicum of protected habitat.

10% of proceeds from this sale after gas and 10% carbon offset will be donated to Insect Conservation though NRDC, the Natural Resourced Defense Council.
