The Teke people, live mainly in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As it were, Africa was divided without considering the tribes, so there is a minority of Bateke People in Gabon. Teke People Speak the Teke Languages, and are classified amongst the Bantu Central African language group of people. This tribe is a trading tribe, as Teke means 'to sell'. Teke people are also excellent hunters, skilled fishermen and traders. Teke people chose Blacksmiths as Chiefs. Because Smiths were seen as important people in the community because this occupation was passed down from father to son. The chief of the community or the village was the chosen religious leader. He is the most important tribal member and he will keep all the potions and bones that is used for important ceremonies through which the Spirits are spoken to on behalf of his people. The Teke People are well known for their masks. Most having abstract patterns and geometric motifs with horizontal lines. They are often painted in earthy colours. Teke masks are used in traditional ceremonies such as weddings, funerals, and initiation rites of boys moving into adulthood. 3D AFRICAN MASKS collection image

Most African masks that were taken from the continent are now in the homes of private collectors and museums. The descendants of these mask makers do not have the privilege of seeing what their ancestors carved. Even though the masks were aesthetically appealing, they were functional to the tribes that used them.

African masks represent ideas that are still relevant today. I am making the most rare and most expensive masks available to new collectors in 3D. 50% of Proceeds will be contributed in setting up an Innovation Hub, in Ghana. This Innovation Hub will be a place where young creatives who are the descendants of these mask makers will come to, to develop their ideas and bring them to fruition using technology. Creatives will receive training material to develop their talents and creative abilities.
