For the longest time while struggling with addiction, photography was my only time to truly be sober and go back to the person I was before drugs. What may look like a photo of a jazz club to you is a reminder of the solace I was given through making art, even at my lowest points
A series created based on my experience hiding my mental illness and drug addiction, the balloons represent the facade I carry with me everywhere I go. Making this series has been an awakening for me that being my true self as an artist is the only way to truly be successful in this space, and that the facade will just bring me down. This series inspired me to be me, even if that’s not always a smiley face
