For me, the most exciting times to photograph are on rainy nights. While my stay in Tokyo was short, I was actually out shooting every night until finally one evening it began to rain. It always surprises me that people seemingly out of nowhere are able to spruce out some umbrellas. While I was out exploring the streets of Shibuya, I came across a tunnel under a train crossing. It looked so inviting to photograph, but at the time there were so many people passing through. I prefer images with one or two people in them rather than so many because it gives your eyes something to focus on. I must have been waiting for about an hour at the spot, waiting for the right person when finally this woman with a pink umbrella walked by and into the tunnel. I took the picture, knowing full well that this was one of the photos that would make my night. Each of my photographs comes with commercial rights as well as a signed print. Please be sure to contact me for your print (only applies to the first person who collects this piece.)
