Brain Storming is a beautiful piece, created by Olivia, a 13-year-old Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital patient. Olivia created this art using brain-computer interface (BCI) technology. BCI allows Olivia and other young Glenrose patients the opportunity to express themselves using only their minds.

BCI works by interpreting brain signals and turning them into actions. Pediatric patients who have limited mobility or communication challenges can use BCI to interact with their environments. This includes playing video games, driving a remote controlled car, or creating art.

Olivia and her family generously gifted this piece to the Glenrose Foundation for our first-ever NFT project. They will also be joining us on June 16th at the Shining a Light event, where we'll play the video of her creating the art, and showcase the NFT, thanks to our partners at iMining.

Shining a Light - Glenrose collection image

Shining a Light takes place June 16, 18 and 19 at EPCOR Tower (10423 101 Street NW). Make your way up to the 16th floor to interact with art and light installations that feature the dimensions of rehabilitation. We encourage you to immerse yourself in the experience!

The experience, which lasts about one hour, features many of the areas of specialty that can be found at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. Shining a Light is a unique opportunity to learn about some of the innovative equipment and technology currently being used for rehabilitation.
