This is the morning that inspired me to quit my job and become a photographer.

I arrived at camp the previous night at 11pm in howling winds and torrential rain. I pitched my tent in the dark, absolutely drenched by the storm, and stayed awake all night listening to the tent poles creak and groan from the force of the gales outside. I felt like I had barely slept a wink when my sunrise alarm went off, but I forced myself to get up, knowing that I was in the most beautiful place I'd ever been, and stormy weather has a way of creating very photogenic conditions.

The storm continued to rage over the mountains while I set up, but somehow the clouds had cleared to the east. As the sun rose, it's rays illuminated the underside of the clouds and the falling rain creating the most magnificent rainbow I've ever seen. I snapped a few photos before a massive gust of wind blew me over, along with my tripod, and broke my camera. I was the only photographer brave enough to get up that morning, and I paid the price. But, the few surviving photos from that morning will live with me for the rest of my life.
