A series of 6 experimental, surreal NFT collages. Wendy Bevan's nude self portraits entitled; 'The Mind is an Unforgiving Place' explores the monsters of the unforgiving, judgemental human psyche, during times of complete self isolation. Each college turns to the artist's own imagination in an effort to outwardly express a fairytale type dystopian existence in a playful, childlike way, reflecting the extraordinary waves of internal emotions and almost madness, being forced to live with one's mind, with no ability to avoid or costume their inner monologue. Bevan's surrealist approach to the body image being unshapely, undernourished, elongated limbs, puppet-like poses with a lack of self control is a reflection of how things can appear in one's imagination, vs reality.
Wendy Bevan is a British musician, visual artist and photographer, who combines a surreal, cinematic and theatrical approach to her work. Well known for her early works on polaroid, her ethereal and theatrical imagery has been published in international fashion publications since 2005. She has collaborated with some of the leading figures in the fashion photography industry to create her distinctive, signature style – a bright, colourful yet, nostalgic-like world, as a storyteller with an articulate choreography of light. Embracing a fusion of inspiration she finds in cinema, theatre, art and music, Wendy’s love of capturing the beauty of light in between shadows, has led her to take portraits of many artists, musicians and cultural icons. Wendy continues to work as an artist, performer, music maker and photographer; creating imagery and new pieces of music. She lives between LA and London.
