This was the first members card produced by Genesis’88. A small number were printed to launch the private members club in January 1989. Private members clubs were protected by certain laws which meant companies could avoid applying for licences. Acid House parties were totally illegal if hosted in buildings without landlord permission or a Music & Dance Licence. Private clubs were free to host events without applying for licences. The cards created the illusion of a professionally run members club. This helped convince attending law enforcement the events were aboveboard.
