Robert Silvers, the original inventor of Photomosaics,® arranged 7900 NASA space program images to recreate Vincent van Gogh's 1889 painting The Starry Night. It depicts the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an imaginary village.

Images are from programs including: Apollo, Chandra, Dragon, Falcon-9, Hubble, ISS, Landstat, Pioneer, Shuttle, Sky Lab, and Spitzer. None of the photos were modified to do this because the Artist was able to find space program photos that naturally contained the shapes necessary to form the painting. There is not only no blending or “cheating,” but each photo is used only once.

This NFT contains the digital original. From the Artist: “I hope you enjoy this as much as I have enjoyed making it.”
