This is the most intimate and personal portrait I have ever taken. My son, then 14, and I visited the Museum of Natural History. While exploring the wildlife exhibit, we encountered a scene with gorillas in the jungle. The scene was observed from afar until my son decided to walk up closer and take a closer look at it. My first instinct was to take as many photos of him as possible at that moment. His imagination was stimulated by this scene, and he felt a sense of wonder and enchantment. In a way, it reminded me of why I created art in the first place. In our minds, we imagine the world and then convey it through our art. It is imperative to never lose touch with our inner child as we age. It is that spirit and energy that informs us and takes us to places we could never have imagined.
