This is one of my favorite photographs from my visit to India in 2019. I have always liked trains and specifically, train stations. They provide many stories. I was at the New Delhi Railway Station when I saw this composition. It looked like one of those once in a lifetime photography opportunities. The deep blue color of the train, three windows, two men, one looking outside and waiting for his train to leave, and the other looking directly at me. Below his window, the words, “emergency window”, both in Latin and Indian alphabet spoke his desperation to get out of there. His orange headband was the last thing I remember as I took the photograph and said goodbye. He looks angry but moments frozen in time can be deceiving. As the train sped away, he simply smiled.
