Filmed in Bethlehem, Connecticut, October 2023. “Matter and Spirit Quad” depicts Michael Lanzano fabricating the eponymous sculpture from marble. An artifact of the lost work Quad IV (1969) by Robert Mallary, a scan was taken of the original maquette after its rediscovery in 2021. This scan was modeled and input to carve from layers of epoxied marble with the Roboticom SculptiRob. Presented at the Yale Center for Collaborative Arts and Media symposium Machine as Medium: Matter and Spirit in 2023.
