During the first year of the pandemic I did a deep dive into experimental electronic production techniques. I would often start my mornings with a cup of coffee and an hourlong jam session in Ableton recording myself coming up with new sounds. I explored granular synthesis, a technique of taking a sound and exploding it into dozens of tiny grains of sound to create a completely new sonic palette. By the end of the year, I had so much music from this period of experimentation that I crafted my favorite pieces into a ten-song concept album.

'Last Chance At Life' is the tenth and final song on my album of the same name. Each song is part of a larger story in which three friends leave a ravaged Earth behind in search of a new planet.

In this final chapter, the three explorers have finally found carbon-based plants which can serve as their life fuel. They lay back on a bed of crystal blue flowers and stare back towards Earth as they bask in their accomplishment. Now, the only thing left is to figure out how to get the word back to their home planet that a new home exists.
