My work is devoted to ancient culture, as well as its attitude to sexuality and sexual morality of that time. I took clay as the basis of the materials, starting from the red-figure paintings on ancient Greek vases and rhytons. The inspiration was the writings of the Greek poet Theognis to his beloved Kirn, where he is as an object of love (ἐρώμενος), and Theognis is as an admirer or lover (ἐραστής). In his writings, he also instructs Kirn, educates him: "Kirn, do not be zealous in anything. Choose the middle in everything...» In my own work, I used one of the love passages, which is located exactly under the figures of Kirn and Theognis. It was important for me to reveal this story and show that there is no right or wrong gender, there is only love and those indescribable feelings that we are ready to give to each other. So love and be loved!
Playboy and Sevens Foundation are proud to announce a first-of-its-kind partnership that brings a new four-part NFT grant-exhibition series focusing on Playboy’s core editorial themes of Gender and Sexuality, Speech, Equality, and Pleasure to life. The collaboration provides underrepresented digital artists with the opportunity to mint and sell their work in the metaverse. Playboy and Sevens recognize how the fight for equality and representation that continues to define the art world at large is particularly urgent in the fast-moving world of NFTs. As such, the first installment of the series, The Art of Gender and Sexuality, invited applicants to celebrate the power of diverse identities and perspectives. The exhibit was curated by artists ix shells, Anne Spalter & Shantell Martin, and Playboy head of art & editorial Liz Suman & creative director Erica Loewy.
