 PhotoKlecksography

Since 2005 I have been exploring a technique of digitally mirroring some of my 35mm multiple exposure photographs, giving rise to myriad visages in a central totem: insects, masks, demons, animals...

I subsequently became aware of the work of Justinus Kerner, whose 19th century art preceded (and ultimately gave rise to) the famous Rorschach inkblot test, for studying the subconscious). Kerner coined the term 'Klecksography' for the art of making symmetrical images from inkblots, which he used to illustrate his books of poetry. 'PhotoKlecksography' thus emerged as the title for this collection.

Drawing on the association with the Rorschach inkblot test, the images in this collection reveal aspect of the viewer's subconscious, depending on what they see. Using multiple exposure photography as a starting point adds a unique sense of depth and complexity to the images.
