I think I was one of the first people to have seen Gazers.

I remember that I was sitting in a random café in Buenos Aires where I had to sit down urgently because Matt was sending me messages with great enthusiasm, like every time he is about to change the history of cryptoart, excited like yesterday when he told me a little bit about what was going to happen today.

Gazers is not an easy work to digest. Even today, after a year of the collection's existence, I am still surprised with new information and features that seem to never stop coming.

(I think that I am not risking too much by saying that it is and will be the masterpiece of this first stage of this movement that we all call cryptoart.)

My first impression of Gazers was positive, but also one of deep confusion. I still remember the first viewing of that long video in which Matt first explains his vision to us. I saw it while listening to the noise of cups and customers ordering their coffee with medialunas from the waiter.

I don't think I understood much about Gazers that day, but I did understand something more important, something that begins to float in the air when you begin to see one Gazer after another: Matt, my friend, was actually a genius working among us.

I congratulated him on his work, joining in the excitement as any friend does when another friend shares good news, but it wasn't weeks later that I truly began to understand what Matt had done.

The level of mastery, complexity, beauty and depth of this collection of generative art is unparalleled. And I think it will take several years until we see something similar in our space.

And that this collection has been created by one of the most affectionate, kind and respectful people in our space is something that I also celebrate. It is not always so easy to find a great artist and a great person in one person. And that is precisely what I think of Matt Kane.

About Gazers as a whole, surely there are collectors who know and can speak better than me. But this number #314 is mine. And about it, no one can speak better than me. And this is what I think:

There is a little piece of history and revolution in my wallet. A little personal moon. A little piece of history that sees my works pass between the time I mint them and the time I sell them. A little piece of history that reminds me that I am where I have wanted to be all my life. A little piece of history that includes me in the history of this space while I make my own way.

That piece of history is my Gazer #314. A testament to my friend's genius. A small sample of everything that is possible. A window both into the future and the past. A moon that gives me clarity when I need help in lighting my way.
