In his decades-spanning practice, Abdulaziz Alkooheji has explored art and crafts through different materials and mediums. Self-taught, Aziz began painting as a means of dealing with anxiety and family life.

In his early work in the 90s and 00s, he created abstracted items out of pottery, highlighting old traditional methods of work with modern fine art specks of bright colors.

Aziz later experimented with combining canvas art with real life objects, using mixed media prints from his old collections of newspapers, magazines, and promotional flyers. He returned to making paintings and watercolors later on.

Praised by the royal family for his art, Aziz falls outside the confines of any particular artistic movement or period, but he remains a seminal figure and an important influence to artists youth in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
