Buwaya are saurians from Tagalog folklore. They live in deep-sea caves and have a coffin-like saddle growing on their backs. When a Buwaya captures a human, it locks the victim inside the saddle to carry them down to their underwater lairs. To the ancient Tagalogs, the Buwaya were considered sacred beings. The act of killing a Buwaya was punishable by death.
