"The Death of James Dean" is both an experimental short and a one-of-a-kind music video. This haunting little movie has screened at three film festivals so far in 2022. It was a finalist for Best Short Experimental Film in the London, UK-based Cult Movies International Film Festival in March, and it will screen at the Defy Film Festival in Nashville, TN in August, 2022.
"The Death of James Dean" features the experimental editing of one of the groundbreaking actor's most memorable scenes from REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. The images are paired with an ambitious musical soundtrack including Mighty Joe Nolan's inspired spoken word performance of the title poem.

They say that James Dean lived – bashed and battered into a hideous hiding.
They sat that James Dean is addicted to pills and living in a house in the desert.
They say that James Dean woke from a coma, had plastic surgery, and began a second career as Dean Stockwell.
Sal Mineo was stabbed and Natalie's still soaked in her grave.
They say that James Dean died in a fire the week before the crash – something about a boy and a can of kerosene.
They say that James Dead died for someone's sins but not the sins of Jett Rink – sins like icebergs, cold begets cold.
Jett Rink could walk a fenceline. Jett Rink had a cunning mustache and a withering uppercut. Jett Rink had all the oil in Texas and Jimmy had all the gold in California, but he could not grasp Elizabeth Taylor's violet gaze.
They say that James Byron Dean was named for a poet. And I know it – he died broken in a Spyder's shattered eye.
And the basket off the backboard tells the mockingbird to lie in the Indiana Summer 'neath the Indiana sky. And the corn is swaying silver where the nighttime coyotes sigh – gather near them and you'll hear them, “Even James Dean had to die.”

The film won Best Experimental Short at the Medusa Film Festival (20th Season, 2023), and a Bronze Award for Best Experimental Short Film at Spotlight Short Film Awards, 2023.
