Marie Curie (November 7, 1867 – July 4, 1934) Curie was a Polish/French chemist and physicist. She pioneered research on radioactivity (and coined that term). Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Price for her work and the only person to win in two scientific fields of chemistry and physics. In 1906 she was the first woman to become a professor at the University of Paris. She is credited for the discovery of both polonium and radium. She founded both the Curie Institute in Paris and the Curie Institute in Warsaw for medical research.
