Every night, the hum of the fish-tank in my bedroom lulls me to sleep. My angel fish were the last thing I'd see before I drifted off. I'd dream of Jellyfish & corals and beautiful sea creatures. My bed is my safe space, my sanctuary.
However, getting out of bed, out of that safe space in the morning is the single most excruciating part of my day. It’s not that my body is broken or my legs won’t move- It’s just that I know- as soon as I get up, I have to do stuff. I have to brush my teeth. I have to get dressed. I have to work. I have to talk to people. I have to meet demand after demand after demand, and when I’m depressed, I have zero interest and energy to do any of that. So I wish I could just go back to sleep.
'Jellyfish Dreams' is dedicated to those of us that struggle with the purple feeling of Depression- debilitating or high functioning. I see you. I know you're tired. I know how exhausting it is to just think about doing something productive.
I hope this keeps you afloat till you have some energy again- "You are a work in progress. You have made it this far and maybe today isn't a good day. But you are worthy of the time spent on your healing. You deserve a life of happiness."
Tomorrow is a new day. For now, I'll let those Jellyfish dreams take over.
It's overwhelming to allow yourself to catch a feeling. Uncomfortable. It requires us to confront ourselves fully. But we do feel. We're only human. This collection is close to me. It's everything I've felt. It's everything YOU'VE felt! Anxiety, Burnout, Grief, Depression, Loneliness and more. I caught some purple feelings. And this is me being vulnerable and uncomfortable, and allowing the world to witness it. I expressed my emotions through this collection, processed complex feelings, and found relief. If, by any chance, you've caught a purple feeling, I hope you find some relief too.
