Robert Silvers, the original inventor of Photomosaics,® worked with hundreds of images of Postage Stamps to form an image of Elvis's face as pictured on an actual US Postage stamp.

“This is one of my all-time favorite works because you cannot easily see that it is Elvis when viewed up close. Squint or walk away, and his face appears.”

From his first book: "The Elvis Presley postage stamp on which this Photomosaic is based is a story unto itself. In 1992, the U.S. Postal Service announced it would issue a commemorative 'Elvis' stamp, and narrowed the artwork down to two choices: one of Elvis as a hot young rock star, one of Elvis during the 1973 Hawaii concert. In then put the question to America and distributed ballots nationwide. More than a million votes were cast, and the 'young Elvis,' created by artist Mark Stutzman, won. The stamp was issued in 1993 on Elvis's birthday, January 8, in a spectacular ceremony at Graceland. With more than 500 million printed, it is the top-selling U.S. commemorative stamp of all time.

The artist has sold this work in galleries around the world as Fine Art prints, and this is the digital original used to make the giant gallery edition prints. From the Artist: “I hope you enjoy this as much as I have enjoyed making it.”
