01.Himeji Castle/Hyogo

Himeji Castle is a castle in Himeji City, located in south-central Hyogo Prefecture, with a history spanning 400 years. The castle was built in the early modern era on Himeyama, a hill about 46 meters above sea level, and its white-walled keep is very beautiful and is also known as Shirasagijo (White Egret Castle). The castle tower is an existing castle tower from the time of its construction, the tower and seven other buildings are national treasures, 14 existing buildings are nationally designated important cultural properties, and the inner ring and part of the middle ring are nationally designated special historic sites. The magnificent castle tower is designated as a national treasure, and there are many other national treasures and important cultural properties in the castle. In 1993, the castle became the first Japanese castle to be designated as a World Heritage Site. From 2009 to 2015, the castle tower underwent extensive conservation and repair work to give it a new look.

01番　姫路城/兵庫県

姫路城は兵庫県中南部に位置する姫路市にある城郭で、400年におよぶ歴史を持っています。 標高約46メートルの丘である姫山に築かれた近世の城で、白壁の天守は大変美しく「白鷺城（しらさぎじょう、はくろじょう）」の別名で親しまれています。 天守は築城時のものが残る現存天守で、天守やその他7棟は国宝、現存建造物14棟は国指定重要文化財、内曲輪一帯と中曲輪の一部は国指定特別史跡です。その壮大な天守は国宝に指定され、ほかにも城内には国宝や重要文化財がたくさん。 1993年（平成5年）には、日本の城郭として初の世界遺産にもなりました。 2009年から2015年にかけて、天守の大規模な保存修理工事が進められ、装いも新たになりました。
