A tree sits in a lake under the Western Australian night skies.

Over the last 14 years of living in Western Australia I have explored most of it, spending weeks living out of my 4x4 with a swag and finding some very unique places with unique scenes.

This is a location that I've often been asked about, I've never shared the location as it is quite dangerous to get to if you are inexperienced in being self-sufficient in the outback.

There are no established tracks to this particular lake, instead you have to wade through soft marsh and mud on foot.

As far as I know, I'm the only one to have photographed it, especially at night, there is no dry or solid ground near this spot, making it nearly impossible to camp close by.

The smoke in the lower part of the frame was from some bushfires over 2 hours drive away, it was lit up by some mining infrastructure, adding an orange glow to the lower half of the frame.
