Story

Back in 2017 in Georgian mountains, my tour guide Koba, the soulful Georgian guy, told me, "I was once in Mariupol. You have great sea and good people. But the factory..." and he shook his head sadly. We spent a few days traveling through the mountains with him and he brought up Azovstal factory several times. It is the first thing you see on the way to the city, what you smell when you get off the train and what you feel every day living there. We have the sea and beautiful parks, lots of greenery, universities, swimming pools, stadiums and everything that a city of nearly half a million people needs, but also Mariupol has factories and they always come first.

I hope the day when I can get into city with a camera comes soon. It is hard for me to imagine what I will see (though I have seen thousands of pictures of the city destroyed by russian terrorists), but if I have the power to tell stories, I must do it. With fear and impatience I wait for that day to come.
