Storaro won Oscars for best cinematography for the following movies "Apocalypse Now," "Reds" and "The Last Emperor." Storaro uses Double exposure photography, which layers two different exposures on a single image, combining two photographs into one. Known also as the bride of the desert, Palmyra changed hands on a number of occasions between different empires before becoming a subject of the Roman Empire in the first century AD.During the Syrian civil war in 2015, the Islamic State destroyed large parts of the ancient city, which was recaptured by the Syrian Army on 2017.
