$HYPE is the native token of the Hyperliquid Layer-1 blockchain, designed to power governance, staking, and network utility. It secures the chain through validator participation and is used to pay for transaction execution across the ecosystem, including smart contract activity on HyperEVM. Rather than being just an application token, $HYPE sits at the protocol layer and aligns incentives between traders, developers, and validators within a unified system.

HyperEVM is the Ethereum-compatible execution layer built directly into Hyperliquid’s Layer-1. It allows developers to deploy Solidity contracts using familiar Ethereum tooling while benefiting from the same consensus and finality as the core trading engine. Because it shares state with the base chain, applications can interact natively with on-chain liquidity and infrastructure without relying on external bridges.

Hyperliquid is built as a single Layer-1 blockchain that combines two tightly integrated components: HyperCore, the high-performance order-book trading engine, and HyperEVM, the Ethereum-compatible smart contract environment. Both operate under the same consensus mechanism and share state, meaning developers and users interact with one unified chain rather than separate networks. This design allows applications to tap directly into native liquidity and infrastructure without relying on external bridges.
