The Tilled Field

Filled with elusive shapes, this painting by Surrealist Painter Joan Miró depicts Miro's Catalan homeland. Filled with seemingly nature-defying organic forms, the painting is a testament to Miro's increasing work of stylization and abstraction at this point in his career. This painting is an expression of both the respect for Spain's past and the political turmoil in Europe by working on stylization and abstraction. It is also Miro's first drawing to reveal his radical change in his naturalistic style.
