Pululahua | Cloud of Water

An analog collection of ethereal Ecuador.

In 2012, my fondness for the equine world led me to Pululahua, one of the only two inhabited volcano craters globally, located in the north of Ecuador's capital city Quito. While working as an equestrian tour guide and living in the caldera, I documented the environment with my 35mm camera. In the early evenings, clouds entered the crater and accumulated to dense layers of fog. There could not have been a more notable contrast between the vibrant city of Quito, where we would pick up our guests, and the serenity inside of the crater. Pululahua is Quichua for Cloud of Water.

This body of work is photographed on black-and-white film.
