Daybreak in the Himalayas

The landscape is inspired by the valley heading to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal. The trek up to the over 4000m above sea level base camp was the last leg of my 28 day hiking journey around the Annapurna circuit. I trekked mostly alone and without porters or guides. Some days were scary and felt like I wouldn't make it - the cold, the wind and the sheer drops to oblivion were just some of the trials I faced on an hourly basis.

The deconstructed piece here is particularly interesting as it's a symbol of altitude sickness where your vision becomes blurry and your thoughts begin to blur. All too often hikers succumb to this illness - the mountain doesn't discriminate. If it wants to take you, it will.
