This was inspired by a colleague who frequently would post pictures on social media of her helping homeless people to help create the perception as she looked to embark on her political career. It seemed a particularly cynical act, therefore, I wanted to capture the sense of emptiness that the false hope offered and, at the same time, intimate the homeless man was close to death and yet was still being used.
This artwork is featured in Lil Diamond Smith's Book "Futurist: New York Edition." available on Amazon and Apple.
Inspired by the 2022 poem of the same name by Lil Diamond Smith. The artwork portrays deftly drawn characters and caricatures, surprising comical delights amid the backdrop of the hustle of New York life. Using a range of approaches from expressionism to psychotropic nightmare fantasy, this collection evokes the essential humanity, well hidden as it is, of their generally ambitious, disillusioned, desperate characters who are trying to survive in a city that becomes increasingly more demanding. The collection specialises particularly in revealing the illusions about advanced digital life―a museum attacked by drones, a financier stressed to the point of fury and the statue of liberty circled by drones.
