Created in June 2020. Pose inspired by the Statue of Liberty. Mama Bear stands fighting for the future of her child's world. Grizzly Bear represents the remembrance of those (2-legged and 4-legged) Indigenous to Turtle Island (now known as the U.S.) before the land was colonized by settlers in genocide. As the Grizzly is known to possess utmost sacred energy for many Indigenous cultures, it is rumored that "settlers" targeted them to spiritually torture Indigenous peoples. Today in 2022, research states there are nearly 1,500 grizzlies surviving in the lower United States (Alaska, 31,000) as an endangered species. Whereas prior, there may have been close to 100,000.
