Being out in the surf alone is one of my favourite things to do. Capturing this lone surfer taking in the sunrise as a shelf cloud rolled through, I could feel the longing to be out there growing and overtaking my soul.

Usually I would finish up getting my compositions and capturing the best of the light, then pack up the gear and paddle out for some waves. But this was a special day. I had just met a fellow photographer that is a massive supporter of the community in the NFT space for our sunrise shoot. Getting to know him was a great experience and a friendship was forged.

Sometimes being lost at sea can be a good thing and being alone never lasts long when you share a deep passion for the ocean and for art. There's always someone down to earth to connect and share moments with. I hope this image connects us one day.
